Meet our Pastor

Father Kevin Bryan was born at home on his family’s farm in December 0f 1950. The family farm was near Colesburg off KY 251 near the quarry road. He is one of eight children. His parents were William Jenkins Bryan and Martha Nell Dant. Both have passed away, his mother in 1986 and his dad in 1997. He has four brothers and three sisters. Father has 14 nieces and nephews.

Father Kevin attended St. Benedict School in Lebanon Junction for grades one through eight. He attended the old St. Thomas Seminary in Louisville for his high school years. After graduating from high school he attended Bellarmine College and graduated from there in 1972. He went on to St. Meinrad School of Theology from 1972 through 1976. He was ordained at the Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville on May 29, 1976 by Archbishop McDonough. His first assignment was as associate pastor from 1976 to 1977 at St. Francis of Assissi, St. Francis, Marion County, Kentucky.

He served from 1977 to 1981 at St. Dominic’s in Springfield and then moved to Mother of Sorrows in Louisville where he stayed five years. He served one year at Holy Sprit in Louisville and then returned to St. Francis and served as pastor there from 1987 to 1995. He went to St. Raphael in Louisville and served as pastor for 5 years from 1995 until 2000. He took a sabbatical year after St. Raphael and was then assigned to Edmonton in 2001 where he served as administrator for Christ the Healer in Edmonton and Christ the King in Tompkinsville from 2001 until 2007.

Before coming to St. Martin of Tours in Flaherty and St. John the Apostle in Brandenburg in June of 2011, Father served as pastor of Good Shepherd in Columbia and Holy Spirit in Greensburg as well as serving the mission in Jamestown.

Having grown up on a farm, Father says he enjoys serving country parishes, although he doesn’t mind the city. In his spare time he enjoys traveling and reading, especially mysteries.
